Spire View Housing Association has been successful in gaining a ten year extension on the exemption of right to buy. This means that you will not have the right to buy your home until 30th September 2022 at the earliest.  It also means that we can continue to provide good quality, affordable housing to those most in need.

This extension does not apply to the following:

  • those with preserved right to buy
  • certain properties in Roystonhill and Tharsis Street (however, cost floor rules apply until 2015)
  • new tenants from 1 March 2011 who will never have the right to buy
  • two recently acquired shared ownership flats at Bright Street

Annual Report 2010-2011

It is extremely important to the Association that we listen to our tenants and applicants to enable us to provide the best possible service that we can, particularly when it comes to letting our properties. To assist in this process, we carry out a review of our Allocation Policy every three years and through consultation with our tenants and applicants, make any relevant changes which would improve our existing policy.

We have recently carried out a thorough review of our Allocation Policy. Due to the great success of our current policy which tenants and applicants are happy with, we only had to make minor changes. A copy of the revised policy is available on this site under “Documents” or to download here. The next Allocation Review will be in 2014.

Problems Paying Your Rent?

If you have problems paying your rent, please contact your Housing Officer at the office immediately. Staff are committed to giving help and advice and understand that individual circumstances can change. Please do not ignore this problem as the debt will increase and, ultimately, you could lose your home.

Welfare Benefits / Money Advice

Many tenants’ financial problems can be resolved by obtaining proper advice.

We offer a free independent money advice service every Thursday afternoon in our office you can access this by simply calling in and making an appointment or by telephoning our office on 0141 552 7928.

Alternatively, you can visit the North Glasgow Advice Centre at 1169 Royston Road. This drop-in surgery is operated jointly by the Legal Services Agency and the Citizens Advice Bureau. Staff are on hand to provide information and advice on benefits, debt, legal action including housing, eviction, money advice, children etc. The drop-in surgery operates on the following days:

Monday: 2.00pm to 4.00pm
Wednesday: 10.00am – 1.00pm and 2.00pm – 4.00pm
Friday: 10.00am – 12.00noon

If you are unable to attend during these times, please call 0141 770 7869 to make an appointment. However, priority is given to those attending the drop-in surgery.

If you need help filling in an application form for housing with Spire View Housing Association, or if you would like to discuss your application in more detail, we offer application appointments so you can talk about your housing situation with one of our housing staff.
